To the Commander-in-Chief.

July 22, 1920, Kharkov.

Units of the Western Front, advancing successfully, have forced the River Shchara and occupied Slonim. Along the entire line of the South-Western Front, the Poles are offering very strong resistance, with particular stubbornness on the Lvov axis.

The situation with Romania remains uncertain and tense. Under the present conditions, I consider it necessary to shift the center of gravity of the main strike of the South-Western Front's armies to Galicia, assigning the armies the following tasks:

1) The 12th Army, upon occupying Kovel, shall develop its thrust toward Kholm-Lublin.

2) The Cavalry Army, upon liquidating the Dubno-Kremenets enemy group, shall swiftly deliver the main blow in the general direction of Tarnopol-Mikolayev.

In presenting the foregoing, I request your approval.

Commander of the South-Western Front: Egorov.

Member of the Revolutionary Military Council: Stalin.

Chief of Staff: Petin.
