First Cavalry Army. Voroshilov, Budyonny.

Decrypt personally. Kharkov, 23/7.

A proposal has been received from Poland, without British mediation, for an armistice, with a request that we give them a reply no later than July 30. You naturally understand that we are compelled to agree. Proceeding from this, the most rapid advance on your part toward Lvov is required, and in general you must try to have seized the maximum of what we can take by the 30th. From this flows our latest directive on Lvov. The CC of the Party asks you to make yet one more effort -- perhaps the last -- and then rest.

Stalin.
