Hello, Klim!

I received your letter of 26/VII.

1) Press Makhanov as hard as you can: his universal gun is as vital to us as air and water. Make the Putilov workers speed up the work on Makhanov's gun.

2) I have no objection to leaving Gamarnik in Moscow, provided, however, that Blyukher receives leave for medical treatment and that matters (in the Far East) cannot suffer in any way.

3) Six bombers for the Far East is a trifle. At least 50-60 TB-3s must be sent there. And this must be done as quickly as possible. Without this, the defense of the Far East is an empty phrase.

4) Regarding the weeds and poor field cultivation in the south (not only in the south!), you are absolutely right. The cause of this calamity is, among other things, the poor work of the MTS. I intend to write a special letter to the Politburo about improving the work of the MTS. Markevich is a good worker, but he has become a bit conceited (too much praise!) and does not see the gaps in the work of the MTS.

Greetings! Yours, I. Stalin
