Note: A.V. Yumashev (1902–1988) was a test pilot and one of the first to master high-altitude flights. In 1936 he set a number of altitude records with a load. Hero of the Soviet Union (1937). A participant in the Great Patriotic War, from 1944 he was head of the fighter aviation directorate of the Main Directorate of Combat Training.

He was awarded 2 Orders of Lenin, 5 Orders of the Red Banner, Orders of the Patriotic War 1st Class and the Red Star, medals including the de la Vaulx Medal (FAI), and was an honorary citizen of the cities of Los Angeles and San Jacinto.
