In accordance with the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Union of the USSR of January 6, 1943, "On the Introduction of New Insignia for the Personnel of the Red Army," —

I ORDER:

1. To establish the wearing of shoulder boards:

Field boards — by military servicemen in the Active Army and the personnel of units being prepared for dispatch to the front;

Everyday boards — by military servicemen of all other units and institutions of the Red Army, as well as when wearing dress uniform.

2. All personnel of the Red Army shall transition to the new insignia — shoulder boards — during the period from February 1 to 15, 1943.

3. To introduce changes to the uniform of the personnel of the Red Army, in accordance with the description.

4. To put into effect the "Rules for Wearing Uniform by the Personnel of the Red Army."

5. To permit the continued use of existing uniform with the new insignia until the next scheduled issue of clothing, in accordance with the existing terms and supply norms.

6. Commanders of units and garrison commanders shall strictly monitor compliance with dress regulations and the correct wearing of the new insignia.
