Mr. King!

I have received your request to answer a question concerning the dissolution of the Communist International. I am sending you my reply.

Question. "British comments on the decision to dissolve the Comintern have been very favourable. What is the Soviet view of this matter and of its effect on the future of international relations?"

Answer. The dissolution of the Communist International is correct and timely, as it facilitates the organisation of the common onslaught of all freedom-loving nations against the common enemy -- Hitlerism.

The dissolution of the Communist International is correct because:
a) It exposes the lie of the Hitlerites that "Moscow" allegedly intends to interfere in the life of other states and to "Bolshevise" them. This lie is now put to an end.

b) It exposes the calumny of the opponents of Communism within the labour movement that the Communist parties of the various countries are allegedly acting not in the interests of their people, but on orders from outside. This calumny is now also put to an end.

c) It facilitates the work of patriots of the freedom-loving countries in uniting the progressive forces of their country, irrespective of their party affiliation and religious convictions, into a single national-liberation camp for the development of the struggle against Fascism.

d) It facilitates the work of patriots of all countries in uniting all freedom-loving peoples into a single international camp for the struggle against the threat of world domination by Hitlerism, thereby clearing the way for the future organisation of a commonwealth of nations based on their equality.

I think that all these circumstances, taken together, will lead to the further strengthening of the united front of the Allies and other united nations in their struggle for victory over the Hitlerite tyranny.

I consider that the dissolution of the Communist International is perfectly timely, since it is precisely now, when the Fascist beast is exerting its last forces, that it is necessary to organise the common onslaught of the freedom-loving countries in order to finish off this beast and to deliver the peoples from Fascist oppression.

Respectfully,

J. STALIN
