ORDER

OF THE SUPREME COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF

Our troops, as a result of a swift offensive in Ukraine during September 17–18, 1943, liberated from the German invaders the cities of Priluky, Romny, Piryatin, Lubny, Romodan, Mirgorod, Krasnograd, and Pavlograd.

In the fighting for the liberation of these cities, the following distinguished themselves: the 167th Sumy Rifle Division, the 163rd Rifle Division, the 337th Rifle Division, the 237th Rifle Division, the 309th Rifle Division, the 373rd Rifle Division, the 93rd Rifle Division, the 218th Rifle Division, the 72nd Guards Rifle Division, the 81st Guards Rifle Division, the 58th Guards Rifle Division, the 1st Mechanized Corps, the 2nd Tank Corps, the 161st Guards Cannon Artillery Regiment, the 115th Guards Anti-Tank Artillery Regiment, the 292nd Assault Aviation Division, the 60th Guards Rifle Division, the 172nd Rifle Division, the 42nd Guards Rifle Division.

In honour of the success achieved, the designations listed below shall be awarded to the formations and units named above:

The 167th Sumy Rifle Division, which has distinguished itself for the second time in fighting against the German invaders, shall be proposed for the award of the Order of the Red Banner.

The 2nd Tank Corps shall be reorganized into the 8th Guards Tank Corps. The commander of the corps is Lieutenant-General of Tank Forces Popov Aleksei Fedorovich. The reorganized Guards corps shall be presented with a Guards Banner.
