Troops of the 2nd Baltic Front, with the direct support of troops of the Leningrad Front, developing their offensive in the difficult conditions of forested and swampy terrain, today, 24 February, as a result of a swift attack, captured the town and important railway junction of Dno — a powerful strongpoint of the German defence in the Pskov direction.

In the fighting for the capture of the town of Dno, distinction was won by the troops of Lieutenant-General Korotkov, Lieutenant-General Roginsky, Major-General Stepanenko, Major-General Rozhdestvensky, artillerymen of Major-General of Artillery Kupriyanov, Major-General of Artillery Petropavlovsky, tankmen of Colonel Pshenetsky and Colonel Urvanov.

In commemoration of the victory achieved, the formations and units that particularly distinguished themselves in the fighting for the liberation of the town of Dno are to be submitted for the award of the honorific title "Dno" and for the award of orders.

Today, 24 February, at 21:00 hours the capital of our Motherland, Moscow, on behalf of the Motherland, salutes our valiant troops who captured the town of Dno with twelve artillery salvoes from one hundred and twenty-four guns.

For excellent military operations I express my gratitude to all troops under your command who took part in the fighting for the liberation of the town of Dno.

Eternal glory to the heroes who fell in the struggle for the freedom and independence of our Motherland!
