ORDER

OF THE SUPREME COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF

To Marshal of the Soviet Union Konev

The troops of the 2nd Ukrainian Front, continuing their swift offensive, several days ago forced the River Dniester on a front of 175 kilometres, captured the town and important railway junction of Beltsy, and, developing their offensive, reached our State frontier — the River Prut — on a front of 85 kilometres.

Distinction in the fighting for the forcing of the Dniester, the capture of the town and railway junction of Beltsy, and the reaching of the State frontier was won by the troops of Lieutenant-General Koroteyev, Lieutenant-General Trofimenko, Lieutenant-General Zhmachenko, Lieutenant-General Managarov, and Lieutenant-General Galanin; the tankmen of Lieutenant-General of Tank Troops Bogdanov, Marshal of Armoured Troops Rotmistrov, and Lieutenant-General of Tank Troops Kravchenko; the artillerymen of Lieutenant-General of Artillery Fomin; the airmen of Colonel-General of Aviation Goryunov; and the sappers of Colonel Glezer, Colonel Ponimash, Colonel Malov, and Colonel Petrov.

To commemorate the victory achieved, the formations and units that distinguished themselves most in the forcing of the Dniester, the capture of Beltsy, and the reaching of the State frontier shall be recommended for conferment of the designation "Dnestrovsky" and for award of orders.

Today, 26 March, at 21.00 hours, the capital of our Motherland, Moscow, in the name of the Motherland, will salute the valiant troops of the 2nd Ukrainian Front, which forced the River Dniester and reached our State frontier, with twenty-four artillery salvoes from three hundred and twenty-four guns.

For excellent combat operations I express my gratitude to all the troops under your command who took part in the fighting for the forcing of the Dniester, the capture of Beltsy, and the reaching of the State frontier.

Eternal glory to the heroes who fell in the battles for the freedom and independence of our Motherland!
