ORDER

OF THE SUPREME COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF

To Marshal of the Soviet Union Zhukov

The troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front, developing their offensive, yesterday, 26 March, as a result of a swift blow by tank formations and infantry, captured the regional centre of Ukraine, the city of Kamenets-Podolsk — a powerful strongpoint of the German defences on the Dniester.

In the fighting for the capture of the city of Kamenets-Podolsk, distinction was won by the troops of Lieutenant-General Lelyushenko, the tankmen of Major-General of Tank Troops Belov, Lieutenant-General Akimov, Colonel Smirnov, Lieutenant-Colonel Zhukov, Colonel Denisov, Colonel Fomichev, Colonel Medvedev, Colonel Turkin, Colonel Ryvzh, the artillerymen of Colonel Rupasov, the airmen of Major-General of Aviation Golovnya, Major-General of Aviation Kamanin, Colonel Kotelshikov, Colonel Nechiporenko, and the sappers of Major-General of Engineer Troops Blagoslavov, Colonel Yepifanov.

In commemoration of the victory achieved, the formations and units that distinguished themselves most in the fighting for the liberation of the city of Kamenets-Podolsk shall be recommended for conferment of the designation "Kamenets-Podolsk" and for award of orders.

Today, 27 March, at 21:00 hours, the capital of our Motherland, Moscow, on behalf of the Motherland, will salute the valiant troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front, who captured the city of Kamenets-Podolsk, with twenty artillery salvoes from two hundred and twenty-four guns.

For excellent combat operations I declare my gratitude to all the troops under your command who took part in the fighting for the liberation of the city of Kamenets-Podolsk.

Eternal glory to the heroes who fell in the fighting for the freedom and independence of our Motherland!
