ORDER

OF THE SUPREME COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF

To Marshal of the Soviet Union Zhukov

The troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front, as a result of a skilful manoeuvre by tank formations and infantry, captured the city and large railway junction of Kolomiya — an important strongpoint of the German defences in the foothills of the Carpathians.

In the fighting for the capture of the city of Kolomiya, distinction was won by the troops of Lieutenant-General of Tank Troops Katukov, Major-General Zamirovsky; the tankmen of Major-General Dremov, Colonel Gorelov, Captain Bochkovsky; and the sappers of Colonel Kharchevin.

In commemoration of the victory achieved, the formations and units that distinguished themselves most in the fighting for the liberation of the city of Kolomiya shall be recommended for conferment of the designation "Kolomiya" and for award of orders.

Today, 29 March, at 21:00 hours, the capital of our Motherland, Moscow, on behalf of the Motherland, will salute the valiant troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front, who captured the city of Kolomiya, with twelve artillery salvoes from one hundred and twenty-four guns.

For excellent combat operations I declare my gratitude to all the troops under your command who took part in the fighting for the liberation of the city of Kolomiya.

Eternal glory to the heroes who fell in the fighting for the freedom and independence of our Motherland!

Death to the German invaders!

Supreme Commander-in-Chief

Marshal of the Soviet Union I. STALIN
