Order of the Day of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief
5 April 1944
[No. 100]

ORDER

OF THE SUPREME COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF

To Army General Malinovsky

The troops of the 3rd Ukrainian Front, continuing their offensive, as a result of a swift blow by infantry and cavalry-mechanized formations, captured the city and large railway junction of Razdelnaya — an important strongpoint of the German defences at the approaches to Odessa, thereby cutting the main routes of retreat into Romania of the enemy's Odessa grouping.

In the fighting for the capture of Razdelnaya, distinction was won by the troops of Lieutenant-General Sharokhin, Major-General Kuznetsov; the cavalrymen of Lieutenant-General Pliyev; the tankmen of Major-General of Tank Troops Zhdanov; and the artillerymen of Major-General of Artillery Khitrovsky.

In commemoration of the victory achieved, the formations and units that distinguished themselves most in the fighting for Razdelnaya shall be recommended for conferment of the designation "Razdelnaya" and for award of orders.

Today, 5 April, at 20:00 hours, the capital of our Motherland, Moscow, on behalf of the Motherland, will salute the valiant troops of the 3rd Ukrainian Front, who captured Razdelnaya, with twelve artillery salvoes from one hundred and twenty-four guns.

For excellent combat operations I declare my gratitude to all the troops under your command who took part in the fighting for the liberation of Razdelnaya.

Eternal glory to the heroes who fell in the fighting for the freedom and independence of our Motherland!

Death to the German invaders!

Supreme Commander-in-Chief

Marshal of the Soviet Union I. STALIN
