ORDER

OF THE SUPREME COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF

To Army General Tolbukhin

The troops of the 4th Ukrainian Front, having gone over to the offensive, broke through the heavily fortified enemy defences on the Perekop Isthmus, captured the city of Armyansk, and, having advanced up to 20 kilometres, reached the Ishun positions. Simultaneously, the troops of the Front, having forced the Sivash east of the city of Armyansk, broke through the deeply echeloned enemy defences in the lake defiles on the southern shore of the Sivash and, having advanced up to 60 kilometres in four days of offensive fighting, captured the most important railway junction of the Crimea — Dzhankoi.

In the fighting, distinction was won by the troops of Lieutenant-General Zakharov, Lieutenant-General Kreizer, Lieutenant-General Chanchibadze, Lieutenant-General Kolomiets, Major-General Neverov, Major-General Lovyagin, Major-General Koshevoy, Major-General Tsalikov, Major-General Kazartsev, Major-General Stankevsky, Major-General Bobrakov, Colonel Ivanov, Colonel Tolstov, Colonel Volosatykh, Colonel Malyukov; the tankmen of Colonel Potseluyev, Lieutenant-Colonel Barabash; the artillerymen of Colonel-General of Artillery Krasnopevtsev, Major-General of Artillery Strelbitsky, Major-General of Artillery Telegin, Major-General of Artillery Alexeyev, Major-General of Artillery Gaponov, Colonel Vasilenko, Colonel Pavlov; the airmen of Lieutenant-General of Aviation Khryukin, Major-General of Aviation Filin, Major-General of Aviation Savitsky, Colonel Prutkov, Colonel Geybo; and the sappers of Major-General of Engineer Troops Kolesnikov, Major-General of Engineer Troops Bazhenov.

In commemoration of the victory achieved, the formations and units that distinguished themselves most in the fighting shall be recommended for conferment of the designations "Perekop" and "Sivash" and for award of orders.

Today, 11 April, at 21:00 hours, the capital of our Motherland, Moscow, on behalf of the Motherland, will salute the valiant troops of the 4th Ukrainian Front, who broke through the enemy's defences at Perekop and the Sivash and captured Dzhankoi, with twenty artillery salvoes from two hundred and twenty-four guns.

For excellent combat operations I declare my gratitude to all the troops under your command who took part in the breakthrough of the enemy's defences.

Eternal glory to the heroes who fell in the fighting for the freedom and independence of our Motherland!
