ORDER

OF THE SUPREME COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF

To Marshal of the Soviet Union Govorov

Troops of the Leningrad Front, developing the breakthrough of the Mannerheim Line, overcame the enemy's resistance on the outer and inner perimeters of the Vyborg fortified area, and on 20 June captured by storm the city and fortress of Vyborg.

In the fighting to break through the Mannerheim Line and capture the city and fortress of Vyborg, distinction was won by troops of Colonel-General Gusev, Lieutenant-General Cherepanov, Lieutenant-General Anisimov, Lieutenant-General Alferov, Lieutenant-General Tikhonov, Major-General Fadeyev, Major-General Busarov, Major-General Lyashchenko, Colonel Yelshinov, Colonel Radygin; artillerymen of Lieutenant-General of Artillery Odintsov, Lieutenant-General of Artillery Mikhalkin, Major-General of Artillery Pyadusov, Major-General of Artillery Zhdanov; tankmen of Lieutenant-General of Tank Troops Baranov, Colonel Shpiller, Colonel Protsenko, Lieutenant-Colonel Kovalevsky, Lieutenant-Colonel Sokolov; airmen of Lieutenant-General of Aviation Rybalchenko, Lieutenant-General of Aviation Samokhin, Major-General of Aviation Andreyev, Major-General of Aviation Shcherbakov, Colonel Skok, Colonel Khatminsky, Colonel Greskov, and sappers of Major-General of Engineering Troops Bychevsky.

To commemorate the victory, the formations and units which distinguished themselves most in the fighting shall be recommended for conferment of the title "Vyborg" and for award of orders.

Today, 21 June, at 0 hours 30 minutes, the capital of our Motherland, Moscow, on behalf of the Motherland, salutes the valiant troops of the Leningrad Front that broke through the Mannerheim Line and captured the city and fortress of Vyborg with twenty artillery salvoes from two hundred and twenty-four guns.

For excellent combat operations I express my thanks to the troops under your command who participated in the breakthrough of the Mannerheim Line and in the fighting for the capture of the city and fortress of Vyborg.

Eternal glory to the heroes who fell in the fighting for the freedom and independence of our Motherland!

Death to the German-Finnish invaders!
