The troops of the 3rd Byelorussian Front, developing their successful offensive, forced the River Berezina on a front of 110 kilometres and today, July 1, captured by storm the city and large communications hub of Borisov — an important strongpoint of the German defence covering the approaches to Minsk.

In the fighting during the forcing of the Berezina and for the capture of Borisov, the following troops distinguished themselves: the forces of Colonel General Galitsky, Lieutenant General Glagolev, Lieutenant General Krylov, Major General Zavadovsky, Lieutenant General Koshevoi, Major General Provalov, Major General Maslov, Major General Chernov, Major General Berestov, Major General Strizhenok, Major General Gladyshev, Major General Kaza-ryan, Major General Alekseyenko, Colonel Volkov, Colonel Tolstikov, Colonel Kovalevsky, Colonel Polevik, Colonel Kovtunov, Colonel Klimakhin, Colonel Donets; the cavalrymen of Lieutenant General Oslikovsky; the artillerymen of Major General of Artillery Semin, Lieutenant General of Artillery Salichko, Major General of Artillery Sazonov, Colonel Tsarkov, Colonel Glushkov, Colonel Mityurev, Colonel Demyanovsky, Colonel Kamisov, Colonel Tomilin, Colonel Botvinnik, Colonel Kiy, Colonel Fedotov, Colonel Khasin, Colonel Bazhutov, Colonel Cherkasov, Lieutenant Colonel Titov, Lieutenant Colonel Sotskov, Lieutenant Colonel Vyborov, Lieutenant Colonel Kozin, Lieutenant Colonel Moiseyenko, Lieutenant Colonel Uvarov; the tankmen of Marshal of Armoured Forces Rotmistrov, Lieutenant General of Tank Forces Obukhov, Major General of Tank Forces Vovchenko, Major General of Tank Forces Fominykh, Major General of Tank Forces Aslanov, Colonel Kremer; the airmen of Lieutenant General of Aviation Beletsky, Lieutenant General of Aviation Ushakov, Major General of Aviation Andreyev, Colonel Prutkov; the sappers of Major General of Engineer Forces Zverev, Colonel Khmyrov, Colonel Shilo, Colonel Pronevich, Lieutenant Colonel Chizh, Major Tankhilevich, Major Samgin, Major Malakhov, Major Semyonov; and the signallers of Colonel Davidenko.

In commemoration of the victory achieved, the formations and units that have most distinguished themselves in the fighting during the forcing of the Berezina and for the capture of Borisov are to be nominated for the designation "Borisov" and for decoration with orders.

Today, July 1, at 22:00 hours, the capital of our Motherland, Moscow, on behalf of the Motherland, salutes the valiant troops of the 3rd Byelorussian Front who have forced the Berezina and liberated Borisov — with twenty artillery salvoes from two hundred and twenty-four guns.

For excellent combat operations I declare gratitude to the troops under your command who participated in the fighting during the forcing of the Berezina and for the liberation of Borisov.

Eternal glory to the heroes who fell in battle for the freedom and independence of our Motherland!
