ORDER

OF THE SUPREME COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF

The troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front, developing their successful offensive, today, 20 July, captured by storm the towns and large railway junctions of Vladimir-Volynsky and Rava-Russkaya — important strongpoints of the German defences in Western Ukraine.

In the fighting for the capture of the towns of Vladimir-Volynsky and Rava-Russkaya, distinction was earned by the troops of Colonel-General Gordov, Lieutenant-General Pukhov, Major-General Donskov, Major-General Cherokmanov, Major-General Onupriyenko; artillerymen of Major-General of Artillery Dzevulsky, Major-General of Artillery Kubeev, Major-General of Artillery Yarovoy, Colonel Yanovsky, Colonel Ryklis, Colonel Arshakhovsky, Colonel Skorodumov, Lieutenant-Colonel Tesar; tankmen of Lieutenant-General of Tank Forces Novikov, Major-General of Tank Forces Anikushkin, Major-General of Tank Forces Korolev, Colonel Sadovsky; airmen of Colonel-General of Aviation Krasovsky, Lieutenant-General of Aviation Zlatotsvetov, Colonel Kolomeitsev, Major-General of Aviation Mironenko, Colonel Osadchy; sappers of Lieutenant-General of Engineer Forces Galitsky, Colonel Barash; signallers of Major-General of Signal Forces Akhremenko, Colonel Borisov, Lieutenant-Colonel Simkhovich.

In commemoration of the victory won, the formations and units that have most distinguished themselves in the fighting for the capture of the towns of Vladimir-Volynsky and Rava-Russkaya are to be submitted for the conferral of the designations "Vladimir-Volynsky" and "Rava-Russkaya" and for decoration with orders.

Today, 20 July, at 23 hours, the capital of our Motherland, Moscow, in the name of the Motherland salutes the valiant troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front, who have captured the towns of Vladimir-Volynsky and Rava-Russkaya, with twenty artillery salvoes from two hundred and twenty-four guns.

For distinguished combat operations I declare my gratitude to the troops under your command who took part in the fighting for the liberation of the towns of Vladimir-Volynsky and Rava-Russkaya.

Eternal glory to the heroes who fell in the battles for the freedom and independence of our Motherland!

Death to the German invaders!
