ORDER

OF THE SUPREME COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF

To Colonel-General Maslennikov

The troops of the 3rd Baltic Front today, 23 July, captured by storm the town and large railway junction of Pskov — a powerful strongpoint of the German defences covering the routes to the southern districts of Estonia.

In the fighting for the capture of Pskov, distinction was earned by the troops of Lieutenant-General Sviridov, Lieutenant-General Romanovsky, Major-General Fetisov, Major-General Polyakov, Major-General Lukyanov, Major-General Zaionchkovsky, Colonel Sholev, Colonel Bezperstov, Lieutenant-Colonel Glushkov, Major Shestak; artillerymen of Major-General of Artillery Yevdokimov, Colonel Leonov, Lieutenant-Colonel Rozov, Lieutenant-Colonel Silin, Lieutenant-Colonel Kozhukhov, [Major] Oleinik, Major Andreev, Major Teleshov; tankmen of Major-General of Tank Forces Kolosov, Colonel Ivanovich, Lieutenant-Colonel Lukyanov; airmen of Lieutenant-General of Aviation Zhuravlev, Colonel Dodonov, Colonel Polushko, Lieutenant-Colonel Kulish, Major Yakovlev; sappers of Colonel Blokhin, Lieutenant-Colonel Anglichanov, Major Moroz; signallers of Major-General of Signal Forces Sinelnikov, Colonel Tsaregorodtsev, Lieutenant-Colonel Hendel, Major [of State Security] Kosobokow.

In commemoration of the victory won, the formations and units that have most distinguished themselves in the fighting for the capture of Pskov are to be submitted for the conferral of the designation "Pskov" and for decoration with orders.

Today, 23 July, at 22 hours, the capital of our Motherland, Moscow, in the name of the Motherland salutes the valiant troops of the 3rd Baltic Front, who have captured the town of Pskov, with twenty artillery salvoes from two hundred and twenty-four guns.

For distinguished combat operations I declare my gratitude to the troops under your command who took part in the fighting for the liberation of Pskov.

Eternal glory to the heroes who fell in the battles for the freedom and independence of our Motherland!
