ORDER

The troops of the 1st Byelorussian Front, as a result of a swift offensive by tank formations, cavalry, and infantry, captured the town and large railway junction of Lublin — an important strongpoint of the German defences covering the routes to Warsaw.

In the fighting for the capture of the town of Lublin, distinction was earned by the tankmen of Lieutenant-General of Tank Forces Orel, Major-General of Tank Forces Vedeneev, Lieutenant-General of Tank Forces Popov, Colonel Liberman, Colonel Mirvoda, Colonel Potapov, Colonel Krevs, Colonel Stepanov, Lieutenant-Colonel Pivnev, Colonel Turenkov, Colonel Piskarev, Colonel Abramov, Lieutenant-Colonel Ionis, Lieutenant-Colonel Chepil, Colonel Anisimov, Colonel Lukin, Major Gurenko, Major Berdnikov; cavalrymen of Major-General Konstantinov, Major-General Chalenko, Major-General Koblov, Major-General Belov; troops of Colonel-General Chuikov, Major-General Ryzhov, Major-General Vagin, Lieutenant-Colonel Shtrigol, Colonel Marchenko; artillerymen of Major-General of Artillery Ovchinnikov, Colonel Maksimov, Lieutenant-Colonel Zazirny, Lieutenant-Colonel Shadrakhin, Colonel Peshakov, Colonel Domrachev, Colonel Yegoshin, Colonel Zabello, [Major] Kravchenko, Colonel Kagan, Colonel Malyavsky; airmen of Lieutenant-General of Aviation Polynin, Major-General of Aviation Tokarev, Major-General of Aviation Vinogradov, Colonel Borisenko, Colonel Kalinin, Lieutenant-Colonel Gavrilchenko, Lieutenant-Colonel Chupikov; sappers of Colonel Levin, Major Chistyakov, Captain Muravsky, Captain Dagaev; signallers of [Colonel] Ignatyev, Colonel Belenko, Lieutenant-Colonel Ishutin, Major Kholodenko, Major Orlovsky.

In commemoration of the victory won, the formations and units that have most distinguished themselves in the fighting for the capture of the town of Lublin are to be submitted for the conferral of the designation "Lublin" and for decoration with orders.

Today, 24 July, at 23 hours, the capital of our Motherland, Moscow, in the name of the Motherland salutes the valiant troops of the 1st Byelorussian Front, who have captured the town of Lublin, with twenty artillery salvoes from two hundred and twenty-four guns.

For distinguished combat operations I declare my gratitude to the troops under your command who took part in the fighting for the liberation of the town of Lublin.

Eternal glory to the heroes who fell in the battles for the freedom and independence of our Motherland!
