ORDER

OF THE SUPREME COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF

To Marshal of the Soviet Union Konev

The troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front, as a result of an enveloping manoeuvre combined with a frontal attack, today, 27 July, captured the regional centre of Ukraine, the city of Stanislav — a major railway junction and important German strongpoint in the foothills of the Carpathians.

In the fighting for the capture of the city of Stanislav, distinction was won by the troops of Colonel-General Grechko, Lieutenant-General Sheverdin, Major-General Lazko, Major-General Afonin, Major-General Vorozhishchev, Major-General Dremin, Major-General Podshivailov, Colonel Pakhomov, Colonel Gerasimov, Colonel Yankovsky, Colonel Kochenov, Colonel Ivanchura; artillerymen of Major-General of Artillery Brichenko, Colonel Novikov, Colonel Vorobyev, Colonel Brozgol, Major-General of Artillery Zhiburkus, Lieutenant-Colonel Nikulin, Lieutenant-Colonel Ponomartsev, Lieutenant-Colonel Shelest, Lieutenant-Colonel Terekhin, Major Kartashev, Major Loskutov, Major Pismerov, Major Koval; tankmen of Major-General of Tank Troops Raikin, Lieutenant-Colonel Strelets; airmen of Major-General of Aviation Vitruk, Colonel Kudryashov, Major Voitekeites, Major Musatov, Major Rassmotrov, Lieutenant-Colonel Serikov, Lieutenant-Colonel Markovtsev; sappers of Major-General of Engineering Troops Tupichev, Colonel Astapov, Major Shishov, Major Voronov; signallers of Colonel Belyanchik, Lieutenant-Colonel Zhits, Lieutenant-Colonel Mishin, Major Martynov.

To commemorate the victory won, the formations and units which have distinguished themselves most in the fighting for the capture of the city of Stanislav will be recommended for conferment of the honorary designation "Stanislav" and for award of orders.

Today, 27 July, at 21.00 hours, the capital of our Motherland, Moscow, in the name of the Motherland, will salute the valiant troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front which have captured the city of Stanislav with twenty artillery salvoes from two hundred and twenty-four guns.

For excellent military operations I express my thanks to the troops under your command who took part in the fighting for the liberation of the city of Stanislav.

Eternal glory to the heroes who fell in the struggle for the freedom and independence of our Motherland!
