ORDER

OF THE SUPREME COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF

The troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front, having forced the River San, broke through the enemy's defences and, as a result of an enveloping manoeuvre by tank formations, cavalry, and infantry, captured the city and fortress of Peremyshl and the city of Yaroslav — important communications junctions and powerful German defensive strongpoints covering the roads to Cracow.

In the fighting for the capture of the cities of Peremyshl and Yaroslav, distinction was won by tankmen of Colonel-General of Tank Troops Katukov, Colonel-General Rybalko, Lieutenant-General of Tank Troops Getman, Major-General of Tank Troops Anikushkin, Major-General Dremov, Colonel Chugunkov, Colonel Arkhipov, Colonel Tutushkin; cavalrymen of Lieutenant-General Baranov, Major-General Mamsurov, Colonel Borshchev, Colonel Baturin; troops of Lieutenant-General Pukhov, Major-General Puzikov, Major-General Cherokmanov, Major-General Pankratov, Major-General Krasnov, Major-General Chervony, Colonel Volkovich; artillerymen of Major-General of Artillery Frolov, Major-General of Artillery Myasoyedov, Major-General of Artillery Kamensky, Colonel Oganesyan, Colonel Lebedevich, Colonel Ostan'kovich, Colonel Mazin, Colonel Orekhov, Colonel Khusid, Lieutenant-Colonel Tsesar, Colonel Rukosuyev, Colonel Zhagala, Colonel Popov; airmen of Major-General of Aviation Samokhin, Major-General of Aviation Galunov, Colonel Davidkov, Colonel Gerasimov, Colonel Geibo; sappers of Lieutenant-General of Engineering Troops Galitsky, Colonel Kamenchuk, Colonel Kharchevina, Colonel Barash, Colonel Kordyukov, Colonel Revyakin, Colonel Berzin; signallers of Lieutenant-General of Signal Troops Bulychev, Major-General of Signal Troops Akhremenko, Colonel Borisov, Colonel Pardo, Lieutenant-Colonel Zakharov, Lieutenant-Colonel Lazhintsev, Lieutenant-Colonel Rudenko, Lieutenant-Colonel Tunika.

To commemorate the victory won, the formations and units which have distinguished themselves most in the fighting for the capture of the cities of Peremyshl and Yaroslav will be recommended for conferment of the honorary designations "Peremyshl" and "Yaroslav" and for award of orders.

Today, 28 July, at 22.00 hours, the capital of our Motherland, Moscow, in the name of the Motherland, will salute the valiant troops of the 1st Ukrainian Front which have captured the cities of Peremyshl and Yaroslav with twenty artillery salvoes from two hundred and twenty-four guns.

For excellent military operations I express my thanks to the troops under your command who took part in the fighting for the liberation of the cities of Peremyshl and Yaroslav.

Eternal glory to the heroes who fell in the struggle for the freedom and independence of our Motherland!
