ORDER

OF THE SUPREME COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF

To Colonel-General Petrov

The troops of the 4th Ukrainian Front, continuing their offensive, today, 7 August, captured in fighting the city of Borislav — a major centre of the oil-extracting industry of Western Ukraine.

In the fighting for the capture of the city of Borislav, distinction was won by the troops of Colonel-General Grechko, Major-General Lazko, Major-General Afonin, Colonel Ivanchura, Colonel Pakhomov, Colonel Novozhilov; artillerymen of Major-General of Artillery Brichenko, Colonel Novikov, Colonel Vorobyev, Lieutenant-Colonel Terekhin; tankmen of Major-General of Tank Troops Raikin; airmen of Major-General of Aviation Samokhin; sappers of Colonel Astapov, Lieutenant-Colonel Sheludko; signallers of Colonel Belyanchik, Lieutenant-Colonel Zhits, Lieutenant-Colonel Mishin.

To commemorate the victory won, the formations and units which have distinguished themselves most in the fighting for the capture of the city of Borislav will be recommended for conferment of the honorary designation "Borislav" and for award of orders.

Today, 7 August, at 22.00 hours, the capital of our Motherland, Moscow, in the name of the Motherland, will salute the valiant troops of the 4th Ukrainian Front which have captured the city of Borislav with twelve artillery salvoes from one hundred and twenty-four guns.

For excellent military operations I express my thanks to the troops under your command who took part in the fighting for the liberation of the city of Borislav.

Eternal glory to the heroes who fell in the struggle for the freedom and independence of our Motherland!
