OF THE SUPREME COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF

The troops of the 1st Belorussian Front, as a result of prolonged and stubborn fighting, today, September 14, captured the fortress of Praga — a suburb of Warsaw and an important strongpoint of the German defences on the eastern bank of the Vistula.

In the battles for the capture of the fortress Praga, distinction was won by the troops of Lieutenant-General Gusev, Lieutenant-General Berling, Major-General Kuzmin, Major-General Poznyak, Colonel Gervasiyev, Colonel Vydrigan, Major-General Zaikin, Major-General Chernov, Colonel Turyev, Colonel Glushko, Major-General Bevzyuk, Lieutenant-Colonel Maksimchuk, Lieutenant-Colonel Senitsky, Colonel Petrovich; artillerymen of Colonel-General of Artillery Kazakov, Major-General of Artillery Godin, Major-General of Artillery Modzelevsky, Lieutenant-General of Artillery Pozdnyakov, Lieutenant-General of Artillery Shamshin, Major Raskov, Colonel Zrazhevsky, Colonel Kuznetsov, Colonel Solomiyenko, Colonel Gutin, Colonel Zhigarev, Colonel Ivanov, Colonel Valchenko, Colonel Fantalov, Colonel Nikitin, Colonel Kopelev, Major-General of Artillery Lyarsky, Colonel Rodichev, Colonel Vinogradov; tankmen of Lieutenant-General of Tank Troops Popov, Colonel Piskarev, Colonel Stepanov, Colonel Turenkov, Major-General Mezhitsan, Lieutenant-Colonel Pivnev; airmen of Colonel-General of Aviation Rudenko, Colonel Rasskazov, Major-General of Aviation Komarov, Lieutenant-Colonel Khramchenko, Colonel Berkal, Major-General of Aviation Dzusov, Colonel Isayev, Major-General of Aviation Tatanashvili, Captain Vorobyev; sappers of Colonel Komarov, Colonel Kiselev; signallers of Colonel Solovyev, Colonel Suchek, Colonel Malinovsky, Colonel Vaiser, Major Fomenko.

To commemorate the victory achieved, the units and formations which particularly distinguished themselves in the battles for the capture of the fortress Praga shall be recommended for conferment of the designation "Praga" and for the award of orders.

Today, September 14, at 23:00 hours, the capital of our Motherland, Moscow, in the name of the Motherland salutes the valiant troops of the 1st Belorussian Front, including the troops of the 1st Polish Army of Lieutenant-General Berling, who captured the fortress Praga, with twenty artillery salvoes from two hundred and twenty-four guns.

For excellent combat operations I express my thanks to the troops under your command who took part in the battles for the liberation of Praga.

Eternal glory to the heroes who fell in the battles for the freedom and independence of our Motherland!
