The troops of the 2nd Ukrainian Front, continuing their offensive, today, October 20, as a result of an outflanking manoeuvre by cavalry and tank formations combined with a frontal assault, captured by storm the large industrial centre of Hungary, the city of Debrecen — an important communications junction and a powerful strongpoint of the enemy defences.

To commemorate the victory achieved, the units and formations which particularly distinguished themselves in the battles for the capture of the city of Debrecen shall be recommended for conferment of the designation "Debrecen" and for the award of orders.

Today, October 20, at 21:00 hours, the capital of our Motherland, Moscow, in the name of the Motherland salutes the valiant troops of the 2nd Ukrainian Front who captured the city of Debrecen, with twenty artillery salvoes from two hundred and twenty-four guns.

For excellent combat operations I express my thanks to the troops under your command who took part in the battles for the capture of the city of Debrecen.

Eternal glory to the heroes who fell in the battles for the freedom and independence of our Motherland!
