The troops of the 2nd Ukrainian Front today, October 25, took by storm the cities of Satu-Mare and Carei — important strongpoints of the enemy's defences in Northern Transylvania. Thereby our troops completed the liberation of Transylvania from the enemy.

In the battles for the capture of the cities of Satu-Mare, Carei and the liberation of Transylvania, the following distinguished themselves: the troops of Lieutenant-General Zhmachenko, Colonel-General Trofimenko, Major-General Merkulov, Lieutenant-General Petrushevsky, Lieutenant-General Goryachev, Major-General Timoshkov, Major-General Umansky, Major-General Kozyr, Colonel Beloded, Colonel Bochkov, Major-General Kindyukhin, Major-General Konev, Major-General Karlov, Colonel Khokhlov, Colonel Kostrykin, Colonel Abramov, Colonel Karnachev, Colonel Vinogradov, Colonel Sazhin; the artillerymen of Colonel-General of Artillery Fomin, Major-General of Artillery Koretsky, Major-General of Artillery Lebedev, Major-General of Artillery Popovich; the tankmen of Major-General of Tank Forces Barausov, Colonel Styzik; the airmen of Colonel-General of Aviation Goryunov, Lieutenant-General of Aviation Stepichev, Major-General of Aviation Kamanin, Colonel Saprykin, Colonel Klobukov, Colonel Semenenko, Lieutenant-Colonel Ishchenko, Lieutenant-Colonel Koryakov, Lieutenant-Colonel Berman, [Lieutenant-Colonel] Kireyev, Major Lvovsky; the sappers of Lieutenant-General of Engineer Forces Tsirlin, Major-General of Engineer Forces Petrov, Colonel Ponimash, Colonel Budarin, Colonel Pavlenko; the signal troops of Lieutenant-General of Signal Forces Leonov, Colonel Gorelkin, Colonel Agafonov, Colonel [of State Security] Karpov.

In commemoration of the victory achieved, the formations and units that most distinguished themselves in the battles for the capture of the cities of Satu-Mare, Carei and the liberation of Transylvania are to be submitted for the award of the title "Transylvanian" and for decoration with orders.

Today, October 25, at 21:00 hours, the capital of our Motherland Moscow, in the name of the Motherland, salutes the valiant troops of the 2nd Ukrainian Front who captured the cities of Satu-Mare, Carei and liberated Transylvania with twenty artillery salvoes from two hundred and twenty-four guns.

For the excellent combat operations I declare gratitude to the troops under your command who participated in the battles for the liberation of Transylvania.

Eternal glory to the heroes who fell in the battles for the freedom and independence of our Motherland!
