Troops of the 2nd Ukrainian Front, continuing the offensive, today, November 30, captured the district centers of Hungary, the cities of Eger and Szikszó – major communication hubs and important strongpoints of the enemy's defense.

In the battles for the capture of the cities of Eger and Szikszo, the following troops distinguished themselves: Lieutenant General Zhmachenko, Colonel General Trofimenko, Lieutenant General Managarov, Major General Ostashenko, Major General Merkulov, Major General Umansky, Major General Ogorodov, Major General Konev, Major General Esin, Major General Timoshkov, Colonel Bochkov; artillerymen of Major General of Artillery Zykov, Major General of Artillery Koretsky, Colonel Sagach; tankmen of Colonel General of Tank Troops Kurkin; airmen of Colonel General of Aviation Goryunov; sappers of Major General of Engineer Troops Petrov, Major General of Engineer Troops Tupichev; signalmen of Colonel Gorelkin, Colonel Makarenko, Colonel of State Security Karpov.

To commemorate the victory achieved, the formations and units that most distinguished themselves in the battles for the capture of the cities of Eger and Siksó shall be recommended for the awarding of orders.

Today, November 30, at 21:00, the capital of our Motherland, Moscow, on behalf of the Motherland, salutes the valiant troops of the 2nd Ukrainian Front, who captured the cities of Eger and Sikszo, with twelve artillery salvos from one hundred and twenty-four guns.

For excellent combat actions, I express gratitude to the troops under your command who participated in the battles for the capture of the cities of Eger and Sikszo.

Eternal glory to the heroes who fell in the battles for the freedom and independence of our Motherland!
