Troops of the 3rd Ukrainian Front, developing the offensive, within two days captured the district and regional centers of Hungary – the cities of Szekszárd, Kaposvár, Paks, Bonyhád, Dombóvár – major communication hubs and important strongpoints of the enemy's defense, and also took, with fighting, more than 300 other populated localities.

In the battles for the capture of the cities of Szekszárd, Kaposvár, Paks, Bonyhád, and Dombóvár, the following distinguished themselves: troops of Army General Zakharov, Lieutenant General Sharokhin, Major General Biryukov, Major General Bobruk, Lieutenant General Morozov, Colonel Moshlyak, Colonel Chizhov, Colonel Drychkin, Lieutenant Colonel Bransburg, Major General Gorbachev, Colonel Petrushin; artillerymen of Colonel General of Artillery Nedelin, Lieutenant General of Artillery Voznyuk, Major General of Artillery Tsikalo, Colonel Bakharevich, Major General of Artillery Ratov, Colonel Linnik, Lieutenant Colonel Chepurin, Colonel Milkovsky, Lieutenant Colonel Romantsov; units and ships of the Danube Military Flotilla of Vice Admiral Gorshkov, Captain 2nd Rank Derzhavin, Colonel Smirnov; tankmen of Lieutenant General of Tank Troops Sukhoruchkin; airmen of Colonel General of Aviation Sudets; sappers of Colonel General of Engineer Troops Kotlyar, Colonel Malov, Lieutenant Colonel Korneyev; signalmen of Lieutenant General of Signal Troops Korolev, Lieutenant Colonel Sukhikh.

In commemoration of the victory achieved, the formations and units that most distinguished themselves in the battles for the capture of the cities of Szekszárd, Kaposvár, Paks, Bonyhád, and Dombóvár shall be recommended for the awarding of orders.

Today, December 2, at 20:00 hours, the capital of our Motherland, Moscow, on behalf of the Motherland, salutes the valiant troops of the 3rd Ukrainian Front, including units and ships of the Danube Military Flotilla, which captured the cities of Szekszárd, Kaposvár, Paks, Bonyhád, and Dombóvár, with twenty artillery salvos from two hundred and twenty-four guns.

For excellent combat actions, I express gratitude to the troops led by you who participated in the battles for the capture of the cities of Szekszárd, Kaposvár, Paks, Bonyhád, and Dombóvár.

Eternal glory to the heroes who fell in battles for the freedom and independence of our Motherland!
