Troops of the 2nd Ukrainian Front, continuing their offensive, today, April 13, captured the city of Hodonín in Czechoslovakia – an important road junction and a strong strongpoint of the German defense on the western bank of the Morava River.

In the battles for the capture of the city of Hodonin, the following troops distinguished themselves: Lieutenant General Managarov, Major General Yakovlev, Major General Terentyev, Lieutenant General Safiulin, Major General Zdanovich, Major General Yesin, Major General Preobrazhensky, Major General Ogorodov, Colonel Gubanov, Colonel Sobolev; cavalrymen of Lieutenant General Pliyev, Major General Pichugin, Major General Kuts, Major General Pavlov, Major General Belousov, Major General Khrustalev; artillerymen of Major General of Artillery Popovich, Colonel Pogorely, Colonel Marchenko, Colonel Pastukh, Colonel Vladimirov, Colonel Zvonarenko, Lieutenant Colonel Kalinin, Colonel Shubny; tankmen of Major General of Tank Troops Bogdanov, Colonel Supyan, Lieutenant Colonel Antonov; airmen of Lieutenant General of Aviation Podgorny, Lieutenant General of Aviation Stepichev, Major General of Aviation Kamanin; sappers of Major General of Engineering Troops Tupichev, Colonel Isayev, Colonel Myasnikov, Lieutenant Colonel Badayev; signalmen of Colonel Makarenko, Major Shishelov, Colonel of State Security Karpov.

In commemoration of the victory achieved, the formations and units that most distinguished themselves in the battles for the capture of the city of Godonin shall be recommended for the awarding of orders.

Today, April 13, at 22:00 hours, the capital of our Motherland, Moscow, on behalf of the Motherland, salutes the valiant troops of the 2nd Ukrainian Front, who captured the city of Hodonín, with twelve artillery salvos from one hundred and twenty-four guns.

For excellent military operations, I express my gratitude to the troops under your command who participated in the battles for the liberation of Hodonín.

Eternal glory to the heroes who fell in battle for the freedom and independence of our Motherland!
