Troops of the 3rd Ukrainian Front, continuing the offensive, today, April 15, captured on the territory of Austria the city of Sankt Pölten – an important road junction and a strong stronghold of the German defense on the Traisen River.

In the battles for the capture of the city of Sankt Pölten, the following troops distinguished themselves: troops of Colonel-General Glagolev, Major-General Rozhdestvensky, Lieutenant-General Utvenko, Lieutenant-General Tikhonov, Major-General Denisenko, Major-General Seregin, Colonel Vindushev; artillerymen of Colonel-General of Artillery Nedelin, Major-General of Artillery Brezhnev, Colonel Sinitsin, Major-General of Artillery Velikolepov, Colonel Yablochkin, Colonel Pichkura, Lieutenant-Colonel Ilyin; tankmen of Major-General of Tank Troops Pavelkin, Major-General Govorunenko, Colonel Budnikov, Lieutenant-Colonel Yezhelov, Colonel Chunikhin, Colonel Indeikin, Colonel Gorchinsky, Colonel Lukyanov; airmen of Colonel-General of Aviation Sudets, Major-General of Aviation Korsakov, Lieutenant-General of Aviation Tolstikov, Major-General of Aviation Tishchenko, Colonel Smirnov, Lieutenant-Colonel Shatalin, Lieutenant-Colonel Stepanov; sappers of Colonel-General of Engineer Troops Kotlyar, Colonel Vodovatov, Colonel Nominas, Major Sofronkov, Major Kovalev; signalmen of Lieutenant-General of Signal Troops Korolev, Major-General of Signal Troops Goncharenko, Engineer-Major Rubanov.

In commemoration of the victory achieved, the formations and units that most distinguished themselves in the battles for the capture of the city of Sankt-Pölten shall be recommended for the awarding of orders.

Today, April 15, at 21:00 hours, the capital of our Motherland, Moscow, on behalf of the Motherland, salutes the valiant troops of the 3rd Ukrainian Front, who captured the city of Sankt Pölten, with twelve artillery salvos from one hundred and twenty-four guns.

For excellent combat actions, I express gratitude to the troops led by you who participated in the battles for the liberation of Sankt Pölten.

Eternal glory to the heroes who fell in the battles for the freedom and independence of our Motherland!
