Troops of the 4th Ukrainian Front, continuing the offensive, after fierce fighting today, May 8, captured the city and major railway junction of Olomouc – an important strongpoint of the German defense on the Morava River.

To commemorate the victory achieved, the formations and units that most distinguished themselves in the battles for the capture of the city of Olomouc shall be recommended for the awarding of orders.

Today, May 8, at 20 hours, the capital of our Motherland, Moscow, on behalf of the Motherland, salutes the valiant troops of the 4th Ukrainian Front, who captured the city of Olomouc, with twelve artillery salvos from one hundred and twenty-four guns.

For excellent combat actions, I express gratitude to the troops under your command who participated in the battles for the liberation of Olomouc.

Eternal glory to the heroes who fell in the battles for the freedom and independence of our Motherland!
