The forces of the 2nd Ukrainian Front today, 8 May, captured in Czechoslovakia the cities of Jaroměřice and Znojmo and on the territory of Austria the cities of Hollabrunn and Stockerau – important communication hubs and strong strongpoints of the German defenses.

In commemoration of the victory achieved, the formations and units that most distinguished themselves in the battles for the capture of the cities of Jaroměřice, Znojmo, Hollabrunn, and Stockerau shall be recommended for the award of orders.

Today, May 8, at 23:00 hours, the capital of our Motherland, Moscow, on behalf of the Motherland, shall salute the valiant troops of the 2nd Ukrainian Front, which captured the aforementioned cities, with twenty artillery salvoes from two hundred and twenty-four guns.

For excellent combat actions, I express my gratitude to the troops under your command that participated in the battles for the liberation of the above-named cities.

Eternal glory to the heroes who fell in the battles for the freedom and independence of our Motherland!
