The day for the uprising must be properly chosen. It is only in this sense that the resolution must be understood.87 We must wait for the government to attack, it is said. But let us be clear what attack means. When bread prices are raised, when Cossacks are dispatched to the Donets area, etc.—that is already an attack. How long should we wait if there is no military attack? Objectively, what Kamenev and Zinoviev propose would enable the counter-revolution to prepare and organize. We would be retreating without end and would lose the revolution. Why should we not ensure for ourselves the possibility of choosing the day and the conditions for the uprising, so as to deprive the counter-revolution of the possibility of organizing?
Comrade Stalin then proceeded to analyze the international situation, and argued that there must now be more confidence. There are two policies: one is heading towards the victory of the revolution and looks to Europe: the other has no faith in the revolution and counts on being only an opposition. The Petrograd Soviet has already taken the path of insurrection by refusing to sanction the withdrawal of the troops. The navy has already risen, in so far as it has gone against Kerensky. День восстания должен быть выбран целесообразно. Только так надо понимать
резолюцию[90]. Говорят, что нужно ждать нападения со стороны правительства, но
надо понимать, что такое нападение. Повышение цен на хлеб, посылка казаков в
Донецкий район и т.п., – все это уже нападение. До каких пор ждать, если не
будет военного нападения? То, что предлагают Каменев и Зиновьев, объективно
приводит к возможности для контрреволюции подготовиться и сорганизоваться. Мы
без конца будем отступать и проиграем революцию. Почему бы нам не обеспечить
себе возможности выбора дня восстания и условий, чтобы не давать сорганизоваться
контрреволюции?
Тов. Сталин переходит к анализу международных отношений, доказывает, что теперь
больше веры должно быть. Тут две линии: одна линия держит курс на победу
революции и озирается на Европу, вторая – не верит в революцию и рассчитывает
быть только оппозицией. Петроградский Совет уже стал на путь восстания,
отказавшись санкционировать вывод войск. Флот уже восстал, поскольку пошел
против Керенского. Стало быть, мы должны стать прочно и бесповоротно на путь
восстания.

El alza de los precios de los cereales, el envío de cosacos a la región del Donetz, etc. constituyen ya el ataque. ¿Hasta cuándo hay que esperar, si no se produce el ataque militar? Objetivamente, lo que proponen Kámenev y Zinóviev permitiría a la contrarrevolución prepararse y organizarse. Nosotros habríamos de retroceder sin cesar y perderíamos la revolución. ¿Por qué no podemos aseguramos la posibilidad de elegir el día y las condiciones de la insurrección, para impedir a la contrarrevolución que se organice? El camarada Stalin pasa al análisis de las relaciones internacionales y demuestra que ahora la confianza debe ser mayor. Aquí hay dos líneas: una línea pone rumbo a la victoria de la revolución y mira a Europa; la segunda no cree en la revolución y cuenta con ser sólo oposición. El Soviet de Petrogrado ha emprendido ya el camino de la insurrección, negándose a sancionar la evacuación de las tropas. La flota se ha sublevado ya, por cuanto se ha puesto contra Kerenski. En consecuencia, debemos emprender firme e irrevocablemente el camino de la insurrección.
