After the Kornilov conspiracy and the disintegration of the government, after the breakdown of the conspiracy and the formation of the Kerensky-Kishkin cabinet, after the “new” crisis and the “new” Tsereteli-Gotz negotiations with this same Kerensky, we have at last a “new” (brand new!) five-man government.
A “Directory” of five: Kerensky, Tereshchenko, Verkhovsky, Verderevsky and Nikitin—such is the “new” government, “chosen” by Kerensky, endorsed by Kerensky, responsible to Kerensky, and independent of the workers, peasants and soldiers.
It is said that this government is independent, too, of the Cadets. But that is sheer nonsense, for the fact that there are no official representatives of the Cadets in the government is merely a camouflage for its complete dependence on the Cadets.
Ostensibly, Kerensky the Socialist-Revolutionary is Supreme Commander. Actually, the General Staff, i.e., complete control of the front, has been put in the hands of General Alexeyev, a placeman of the Cadets.
Ostensibly, the “Left” Directory is independent (no joke!) of the Cadets. Actually, the directors of the Ministries, the men who really administer all the affairs of state, are placemen of the Cadets. Professedly, a rupture with the Cadets. In reality, an agreement with placemen of the Cadets in the rear and at the front.
The Directory as a camouflage for an alliance with the Cadets, the dictatorship of Kerensky as a shield to protect the dictatorship of the landlords and capitalists from the anger of the people—such is the picture today. And ahead lies another conference of representatives of the “virile forces,” at which Messieurs the Tseretelis and Avksentyevs, those inveterate compromisers, will strive to convert yesterday’s secret compromise with the Cadets into an open and explicit compromise, to the glee of the enemies of the workers and peasants.
In the past six months our country has witnessed three acute crises of power. On each occasion the crisis was resolved by a compromise with the bourgeoisie, and on each occasion the workers and peasants were fooled. Why?
Because on each occasion the petty-bourgeois parties, the Socialist-Revolutionaries and Mensheviks, intervened in the struggle for power, sided with the landlords and capitalists and decided the issue in favour of the Cadets.
The Kornilov conspiracy thoroughly exposed the counter-revolutionary nature of the Cadets. For three days the defencists clamoured about the treachery of the Cadets; for three days they clamoured about the impracticability of a coalition which fell to pieces at the very first clash with the counter-revolution. And what do we find? After all this they could think of nothing better to do than to accept a camouflaged coalition with the very Cadets whom they had been abusing.
Only yesterday the defencist majority in the Central Executive Committee voted to “support” the five-man Directory, the product of backstage compromises with the Cadets to the detriment of the fundamental interests of the workers and peasants.
That day, when the crisis of power had become acute, when, with the smashing of Kornilov, the struggle for power had become intense, the Mensheviks and Socialist-Revolutionaries once again helped the landlords and capitalists to retain power, once again helped the counter-revolutionary Cadets to fool the workers and peasants.
That, and that alone, is the political import of yesterday’s voting in the Central Executive Committee.
Let the workers know this, let the peasants know it, and let them draw the appropriate conclusions.
Today’s masked coalition is just as unstable as yesterday’s open coalitions: there can be no stable agreement between landlord and peasant, between capitalist and worker. And because of this the struggle for power, far from being ended, grows ever more intense and acute.
Let the workers know that in this struggle they will inevitably suffer defeat so long as the Socialist-Revolutionaries and Mensheviks enjoy influence with the masses.
Let the workers remember that in order to take power the peasant and soldier masses must be wrested from the compromisers, the Socialist-Revolutionaries and Mensheviks, and rallied around the revolutionary proletariat.
Let them remember that, and let them open the eyes of the peasants and soldiers by exposing the treachery of the Socialist-Revolutionaries and Mensheviks. An implacable struggle must be waged against the influence of the Socialist-Revolutionaries and Mensheviks on the masses, work must be carried on tirelessly to rally the peasants and soldiers around the banner of the party of the proletariat—such is the lesson to be drawn from this recent crisis.

После корниловского заговора и распада власти, после крушения заговора и
создания министерства Керенского – Кишкина, после “нового” кризиса и “новых”
переговоров Церетели – Гоца все с тем же Керенским, – мы имеем, наконец, “новое”
(совсем новое!) правительство из пяти.
Керенский, Терещенко, Верховский, Вердеревский и Никитин, “директория” из пяти –
такова “новая” власть, “избранная” Керенским, утвержденная Керенским,
ответственная перед Керенским и независимая от рабочих, крестьян и солдат.
Говорят о такой же независимости этой власти от кадетов, но это сущий пустяк.
Ибо отсутствие официальных представителей кадетов в правительстве лишь
прикрывает полную его зависимость от кадетов.
Для виду – эсер Керенский, Верховный главнокомандующий. На деле – ставленник
кадетов, генерал Алексеев, получивший в свои руки главный штаб, т.е. все нити
фронта.
Для виду – “левая” директория, независимая (не шутите!) от кадетов. На деле –
ставленники кадетов, управляющие министерствами и фактически ведающие всеми
делами государства.
На словах – разрыв с кадетами. На деле – соглашение со ставленниками кадетов в тылу и на фронте.
Директория, как ширма, прикрывающая союз с кадетами; диктатура Керенского, как
маска, заслоняющая от народного возмущения диктатуру помещиков и капиталистов –
вот какова теперь картина.
А впереди – новое совещание из представителей “живых сил”, где гг. Церетели и
Авксентьевы, эти присяжные соглашатели, постараются налаженное вчера скрытое
соглашение с кадетами превратить в явное и определенное на радость врагам
рабочих и крестьян.
За последние шесть месяцев три раза переживала наша страна острый кризис власти.
Каждый раз кризис разрешался соглашением с буржуазией, причем каждый раз рабочие
и крестьяне оказывались одураченными.
Почему?
Потому, что мелкобуржуазные партии эсеров и меньшевиков, вмешиваясь в борьбу за
власть, каждый раз становились на сторону помещиков и капиталистов, решая тяжбу
в пользу кадетов.
Заговор Корнилова вскрыл всю контрреволюционность кадетов. Три дня кричали
оборонцы об измене кадетов, три дня кричали они о нежизненности коалиции,
распавшейся при первом же столкновении с контрреволюцией. И что же? После всего
этого они не нашли ничего лучшего, как принять замаскированную коалицию с теми
же оплеванными кадетами.
Не далее как вчера оборонческое большинство ЦИК своим голосованием решило
“поддерживать” директорию из пяти, возникшую в результате закулисных соглашений
с кадетами в ущерб основным интересам рабочих и крестьян.
В этот день, в день обостренного кризиса власти, в день усиленной борьбы за
власть пред лицом поверженного в прах Корнилова меньшевики и эсеры еще раз
помогли помещикам и капиталистам удержать власть в своих руках, еще раз помогли
контрреволюционным кадетам одурачить рабочих и крестьян.
Таков и только таков политический смысл вчерашнего голосования в ЦИК.
Пусть знают это рабочие, пусть знают это крестьяне и пусть делают они из этого
соответствующие выводы.
Скрытая коалиция сегодняшнего дня непрочна так же, как непрочны были открытые
коалиции вчерашнего дня: нельзя устроить прочного соглашения между помещиком и
крестьянином, капиталистом и рабочим. Ввиду этого, борьба за власть не только не
кончена, но, наоборот, – все более усиливается и обостряется.
Пусть знают рабочие, что в этой борьбе они неминуемо будут терпеть поражение до
тех пор, пока эсеры и меньшевики пользуются влиянием в массах.
Пусть помнят рабочие, что для взятия власти необходимо оторвать массы крестьян и
солдат от соглашателей, эсеров и меньшевиков, сплачивая их вокруг революционного
пролетариата.
Пусть помнят они это и пусть открывают глаза крестьянам и солдатам, разоблачая
перед ними предательство эсеров и меньшевиков.
Беспощадная борьба с эсеровско-меньшевистскими влияниями в массах, неустанная
работа по сплочению крестьян и солдат вокруг знамени партии пролетариата – таков
урок только что пережитого кризиса.

Después del complot korniloviano y de la disgregación del Poder, después del hundimiento del complot y de la formación del ministerio Kerenski- Kishkin, después de la “nueva” crisis y de las “nuevas” negociaciones de Tsereteli y Gots con el mismo Kerenski, tenemos, al fin, el “nuevo” gobierno (¡completamente nuevo!) de los cinco. Kerenski, Teréschenko, Verjovski, Verderevski y Nikitin, el “directorio” de los cinco: he ahí el “nuevo” Poder “elegido” por Kerenski, ratificado por Kerenski, responsable ante Kerenski e independiente de los obreros, de los campesinos y de los soldados. Se dice que este Poder guarda análoga independencia respecto a los demócratas constitucionalistas; pero eso es pura necedad, ya que la ausencia, en el gobierno, de representantes oficiales de los demócratas constitucionalistas no hace sino ocultar la plena dependencia del gobierno respecto a los demócratas constitucionalistas. Para la galería, el eserista Kerenski de Jefe Supremo de las fuerzas armadas. En realidad, el testaferro de los demócratas constitucionalistas, el general Alexéiev, en cuyas manos se pone el Estado Mayor Central, es decir, todos los hilos del frente. Para la galería; un directorio de “izquierdas”, independiente (¡no bromeen!) de los demócratas constitucionalistas. En realidad, los testaferros de los demócratas constitucionalistas manejando los ministerios y dirigiendo, en la práctica todos los asuntos del Estado. De palabra, la ruptura con los demócratas constitucionalistas. De hecho, el entendimiento con los testaferros de los demócratas constitucionalistas en la retaguardia y en el frente. El directorio, como pantalla que encubre la alianza con los demócratas constitucionalistas; la dictadura de Kerenski, como máscara que protege de la indignación popular la dictadura de los terratenientes y capitalistas. Tal es hoy el panorama. Y como perspectiva, una nueva conferencia de representantes de las “fuerzas vivas”, donde los Tsereteli y los Avxéntiev, contumaces de la conciliación, tratarán de convertir en patente y definido -para alegría de los enemigos de los obreros y campesinos- el acuerdo secreto que ayer concertaran con los demócratas constitucionalistas. En los últimos seis meses, nuestro país ha vivido tres graves crisis de Poder. Todas ellas se han resuelto mediante un acuerdo con la burguesía, y en las tres los obreros y los campesinos han sido engañados. ¿Por qué? Porque los partidos pequeñoburgueses de los eseristas y de los mencheviques, al terciar en la lucha por el Poder, se han situado en todas las ocasiones al lado de los terratenientes y los capitalistas, solventando el pleito en favor de los demócratas constitucionalistas. El complot de Komílov ha revelado todo el carácter contrarrevolucionario de los demócratas constitucionalistas. Tres días se pasaron los defensistas gritando acerca de la traición de los demócratas constitucionalistas, tres días se pasaron gritando acerca de que no era viable la coalición, que se había desmoronado al primer choque con la contrarrevolución. ¿Y qué ha sucedido? Después de todo esto no han encontrado nada mejor que aceptar la coalición enmascarada con los mismos demócratas constitucionalistas que ellos habían cubierto de improperios. Ayer mismo, la mayoría defensista del Comité Ejecutivo Central decidía, con su votación, “apoyar” al directorio de los cinco, fruto de acuerdos ocultos con los demócratas constitucionalistas, en perjuicio de los intereses fundamentales de los obreros y campesinos. Ese día -día de crisis de Poder agravada, de lucha recrudecida por el Poder ante el Kornílov pulverizado-, los mencheviques y los eseristas han ayudado una vez más a los terratenientes y a los capitalistas a retener el Poder en sus manos, han ayudado una vez más a los contrarrevolucionarios demócratas constitucionalistas a engañar a los obreros y campesinos. Tal es, única y exclusivamente, el sentido político de la votación de ayer en el Comité Ejecutivo Central. Sépanlo los obreros, sépanlo los campesinos y saquen de ello las conclusiones pertinentes. La coalición encubierta de hoy es tan insegura como lo han sido las coaliciones manifiestas de ayer: no se puede establecer un acuerdo firme entre el terrateniente y el campesino, entre el capitalista y el obrero. En vista de ello, la lucha por el Poder, lejos de haber terminado, se intensifica y encona más y más. Sepan los obreros que en esta lucha serán derrotados indefectiblemente mientras los eseristas y los mencheviques cuenten con influencia en las masas. Recuerden los obreros que para tomar el Poder es necesario sustraer las masas de campesinos y soldados a la influencia de los conciliadores, de los eseristas y los mencheviques, uniéndolas en torno al
proletariado revolucionario. Recuérdenlo y abran los ojos a los campesinos y a los soldados, denunciando ante ellos la traición de los eseristas y mencheviques. Lucha implacable contra la influencia de los eseristas y los mencheviques en las masas, trabajo infatigable para unir a los campesinos y a los soldados en torno a la bandera del Partido del proletariado: tal es la enseñanza de la crisis que acabamos de vivir.
