Two resolutions. One—that of the Executive Committee of the Soviet of Workers’ and Soldiers’ Deputies. The other—that of the workers (400) of the machine shops of the Russo-Baltic Railway Car Works. The former is for supporting the so-called “Liberty Loan.”
The latter is against.
The former uncritically accepts the “Liberty Loan” at its face value, as a loan in support of liberty. The latter characterizes the “Liberty Loan” as a loan against liberty, because it is “being floated with the aim of continuing the fratricidal slaughter, which is advantageous only to the imperialist bourgeoisie.” The former is prompted by the misgivings of distraught minds—what about the supply of the army, will not the supply of the army be injured by refusal to support the loan?
The latter has no such misgivings, because it sees a solution: it “recognizes that to supply the needs of the army funds are required, and points out to the Soviet of Workers’ and Soldiers’ Deputies that these funds should be taken from the pockets of the bourgeoisie, who started and are continuing this war, and who are coining millions out of the slaughter.”
The authors of the first resolution should be content, for have they not “done their duty”?
The authors of the second resolution protest, considering that by such an attitude towards the cause of the proletariat the former are “betraying the International.” That hits the nail on the head!
For and against a “Liberty Loan” that is directed against liberty.
Workers, who are right? Decide for yourselves,

Две резолюции. Первая – Исполнительного комитета Совета рабочих и солдатских
депутатов. Вторая – рабочих (400 человек) механического отделения
Русско-Балтийского вагонного завода.
Первая – за поддержку так называемого “займа свободы”.
Вторая – против.
Первая без критики принимает “заем свободы”, как таковой, как заем в пользу свободы.
Вторая определяет “заем свободы”, как заем против свободы, ибо он “заключается с
целью продолжения братоубийственной бойни, выгодной лишь империалистической
буржуазии”.
Первая внушена сомнениями потерявших голову людей: а как быть со снабжением
армии, не повредит ли делу снабжения армии отказ от поддержки займа.
Вторая не знает таких сомнений, ибо она видит выход: она “признает, что дело
снабжения армии всем необходимым требует денежных средств, и указывает Совету
рабочих и солдатских депутатов, что деньги эти должны быть взяты из кармана
буржуазии, затеявшей и продолжающей эту бойню и наживающей в этом кровавом
угаре миллионные барыши”.
Авторы первой резолюции должно быть довольны, ибо, ведь, они “исполнили свой долг”.
Авторы второй резолюции протестуют, считая, что первые таким отношением к делу
пролетариата “изменяют Интернационалу”.
Не в бровь, а в глаз!
За и против “займа свободы”, направленного против свободы.

Dos resoluciones. Una del Comité Ejecutivo del Soviet de Diputados Obreros y Soldados. La otra de los obreros (400 hombres) de la sección de mecánica de la fábrica de vagones Ruso-Báltica. La primera apoya el llamado “Empréstito de la libertad”. La segunda está en contra. La primera acepta sin objeción alguna el “Empréstito de la libertad” como tal, como un empréstito en favor de la libertad. La segunda define el “Empréstito de la libertad” como un empréstito contra la libertad, pues “se concierta con vistas a continuar la matanza fratricida, beneficiosa únicamente para la burguesía imperialista”. La primera está inspirada por las dudas de gentes que han perdido la cabeza: ¿y el aprovisionamiento del ejército?, ¿no será perjudicar ese aprovisionamiento negarse a apoyar el empréstito? La segunda está libre de esas dudas, pues ve una salida: “reconoce que el aprovisionamiento del ejército de todo lo necesario exige fondos, e indica al Soviet de Diputados Obreros y Soldados que esos fondos deben ser extraídos de los bolsillos de la burguesía que inició y continúa esta matanza y que amasa en esta orgía sangrienta millones y más millones”. Los autores de la primera resolución deben de estar contentos, pues “han cumplido con su deber”. Los autores de la segunda resolución protestan, estimando que los primeros, con su actitud hacia la causa del proletariado, “traicionan a la Internacional”. ¡Certero golpe! En pro y en contra del “Empréstito de la libertad”, dirigido contra la libertad. ¿Quién tiene, razón? Decididlo vosotros mismos camaradas obreros.
