ORDER OF THE DAY TO THE UKRAINIAN LABOUR ARMY, March 7, 1920

In accordance with directive No. 1247/op/123/sh of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the R.S.F.S.R., and Order No. 271 of the Revolutionary Military Council of the South-Western Front, the 42nd Division is incorporated in the Ukrainian Labour Army as from March 7.81
The gallant 42nd Division, which heroically fought the enemies of Russia side by side with other divisions at the front, and with them utterly defeated Denikin’s Volunteer Army, must now lay aside its weapons in order to give battle to economic disruption and provide the country with coal.
Commanders of the 42nd Division! In the battles with Denikin you proved your ability to lead the Red Army men from victory to victory—show now that you are capable of gaining no lesser victories in the battle with the coal crisis!
Commissars of the 42nd Division! You proved your ability to maintain exemplary order and discipline among the Red Army men on the battlefields—show now that you are capable of maintaining the sacred banner of labour discipline untarnished in the battle for coal! Red Army men of the 42nd Division! You proved your ability to fight the enemies of workers’ and peasants’ Russia honourably and devotedly—show now that you are capable of labouring just as honourably and devotedly in transporting coal to the stations, loading it into wagons and convoying the coal trains to their destination.
Remember that coal is just as important for Russia as victory over Denikin.
In the Urals, the regiments of the Third Army have already distinguished themselves in procuring and transporting wood fuel. In the Volga area, the regiments of the Reserve Army have covered themselves with glory in the work of repairing locomotives and railway wagons. The 42nd Division must demonstrate that it is not inferior to others by meeting the country’s needs in transporting, loading and conveying coal. Workers’ and Peasants’ Russia expects this of you. Директивой Главнокомандующего всеми вооруженными силами РСФСР за № 1247/оп/123/ш и приказом Революционного военного совета Юго-Западного фронта за № 271 сорок вторая дивизия с 7 марта включается в состав Украинской трудовой армии.
Доблестная 42-я дивизия, героически дравшаяся с врагами России бок о бок с другими дивизиями фронта и вместе с ними разбившая наголову Добровольческую армию Деникина, ныне должна отложить в сторону оружие для того, чтобы вступить в бой с хозяйственной разрухой и обеспечить стране каменный уголь.
Командиры 42-й дивизии! В боях с Деникиным вы умели вести красноармейцев от победы к победе, — докажите, что в борьбе с угольным кризисом вы способны одержать не меньшие победы.
Комиссары 42-й дивизии! На поле брани вы умели поддерживать среди красноармейцев образцовый порядок и дисциплину, — докажите, что в борьбе за уголь вы способны сохранить незапятнанным святое знамя трудовой дисциплины.
Красноармейцы 42-й дивизии! Вы умели драться с врагами рабоче-крестьянской России честно и самоотверженно, — докажите, что вы способны трудиться так же честно и самоотверженно для подвоза угля к станциям, погрузки его в вагоны и сопровождения угольных грузов до места назначения.
Помните, что уголь так же важен для России, как победа над Деникиным.
Полки 3-й армии на Урале уже отличились в деле добычи и подвоза дровяного топлива, полки Запасной армии на Поволжье покрыли себя славою в деле ремонта паровозов и вагонов, 42-я дивизия должна показать, что она не отстанет от других, обеспечив стране подвозку, погрузку и сопровождение угля. Этого ждет от вас рабоче-крестьянская Россия.

7 de marzo de 1920 En cumplimiento de la instrucción Nº 1247/ op./123/cl. del Comandante en Jefe de las Fuerzas Armadas de la R.S.F.S.R. y de la orden del día Nº 271 del Consejo Militar Revolucionario del Frente del Suroeste, la 42º división es incorporada, a partir del 7 de marzo, al Ejército Ucraniano del Trabajo81. La heroica 42º división, que, hombro a hombro con otras divisiones del frente, luchó valerosamente contra los enemigos de Rusia y que con ellas infligió una derrota aplastante al ejército voluntario de Denikin, debe ahora dejar a un lado las armas para entablar batalla con la ruina económica y suministrar carbón al país. ¡Jefes de la 42º división: en las batallas contra Denikin habéis sabido llevar a los soldados rojos de victoria en victoria! ¡Demostrad que sois capaces de lograr victorias no menores en la lucha contra la crisis de carbón! ¡Comisarios de la 42º división: en los campos de batalla habéis sabido mantener un orden y una disciplina ejemplares entre los soldados rojos! ¡Demostrad que sois capaces de mantener inmaculada la sagrada bandera de la disciplina de trabajo en la lucha por el carbón! ¡Soldados rojos de la 42º división: habéis sabido combatir con honradez y abnegación contra los enemigos de la Rusia obrera y campesina! ¡Demostrad que sois capaces de trabajar con la misma honradez y abnegación transportando el carbón a las estaciones, cargándolo en los trenes y convoyando éstos a los lugares de destino! ¡Recordad que el carbón es tan importante para Rusia como la victoria sobre Denikin! En los Urales, los regimientos del III Ejército se han distinguido ya en la tala y el acarreo de leña. En la región del Volga, los regimientos del Ejército de Reserva se han cubierto de gloria reparando locomotoras y vagones. La 42º división debe demostrar que no quedará a la zaga de las otras unidades, asegurando al país el acarreo, la carga y la escolta del carbón. ¡La Rusia obrera y campesina espera eso de vosotros!
