Comrade Kaganovich!
Pay attention to the American inventor Barlow (see the attached telegram from Skvirsky). There is no need to drag things out; he should simply be given permission to come to the USSR, and if this matter requires some expenditure, that is no great harm. It is not out of the question that something useful may come of Barlow. Talk with Voroshilov -- he knows about this matter. So cut through the tangle of red tape that our bureaucrats have tied around the Barlow matter.

P.S. You ask about my health. My health, evidently, will not improve soon. General weakness and genuine overwork -- their effects are only now making themselves felt. I think I am beginning to recover, but in fact recovery is still a long way off. There are no rheumatic symptoms (they have disappeared somewhere), but the general weakness has not yet gone away. I am spending my time not badly.

Тов. Каганович!
Обратите внимание на американского изобретателя Барлоу (см. приложенную телеграмму Сквирского). Не нужно канителить, а следует прямо разрешить ему приезд в СССР, и если это дело потребует некоторых расходов, — беда небольшая. Не исключено, что из Барлоу может выйти толк. Поговорите с Ворошиловым, — он знает это дело. Итак, расшей ту петлю канители, завязанную нашими бюрократами вокруг дела Барлоу.

Р.S. Вы спрашиваете о моем здоровье. Здоровье мое, видимо, не скоро поправится. Общая слабость, настоящее переутомление — сказываются только теперь. Я думаю, что начинаю поправляться, а на деле выходит, что до поправки еще далеко. Ревматических явлений нет (исчезли куда-то), но общая слабость пока что не отходит. Провожу время не плохо.
