Stavka Directive of the Supreme Command No. 170610 to the Commander of the Leningrad Front

The Stavka of the Supreme Command orders the Commander of the Leningrad Front:

To prepare and conduct an offensive operation with the forces of the Neva Operational Group with the objective of breaking through the blockade of Leningrad. The blow is to be struck from the area of the Nevsky bridgehead, coordinated with a simultaneous blow by the Volkhov Front forces from the east. The immediate task is to destroy the enemy grouping in the area of Sinyavino and to establish a reliable ground corridor linking Leningrad with the rest of the country.

The operation must be prepared by September 20 and conducted with maximum force and decisiveness.
